The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has reappointed six commissioners out of the members of his dissolved cabinet.

The governor, had last week Sunday dissolved the entire cabinet, and praised them for their loyalty for the two and a half years they served under him.

Those reappointed include: Mrs. Funmi Ogun, Commissioner for Works; Hon. Bisi Kolawole (Environment); Hon. Ayodele Michael (Commerce and Industry); Hon. Kehinde Odebunmi (Agriculture); Toyin Ojo (Finance) and Dr Olurotimi Ojo (Health).

Fayose had in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Lere Olayinka, yesterday directed them to resume at their duty posts tomorrow.

The statement said others shall be appointed in due course, calling on the people of the state to be patient and expect a good team that will give them the deserved dividends of democracy.

After the cabinet dissolution, which caught the public and some party people unawares, rumour had it that the governor took the critical decision to weed out those that were clandestinely working with opposition to derail his government, particularly the actualisation of his continuity project in 2018.

A party leader, who craved anonymity, however, told journalists that the governor had earlier met with party leaders in February, 2017 where he told them of the intention to dissolve the cabinet and appoint fresh hands to fasttrack development.

“He had earlier told the party leaders about the step and we expected him to have done the dissolution in May or June but he had to tarry a while for some reasons. So, it wasn’t out of suspicion about any fifth columnist in his government.

“Though, he had problem with a suspended member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan, and the crisis was being dealt with cautiously, because we didn’t want to have any infectious disease that can affect our chances in 2018.

“The governor being a practical politician understood that some party people, who are also capable hands as well have been feeling ostracised and aggrieved and they needed patronage as well. So, I want to believe that the next appointments that will follow this will include names of these people,” he said.
