Nosa Agbonifo Obaseki, a Nigerian-born actor and school monitor based in Toronto, Canada, wears many hats.
But on Father’s Day today, his most cherished role comes to the forefront. “My most memorable moment as a father is waking up everyday and seeing my wonderful and beautiful kids around me,” he told The Entertainer.
Obaseki also acknowledged the challenges of fatherhood. “It’s a difficult journey,” he reflects, “but God has always given me the strength to keep pushing. And I have my wife to thank for all the love, care, advice, and energy she gives me everyday.”
Beyond his family, another passion burns brightly for Obaseki: promoting his Edo heritage. Social media users may recognise his unwavering support for Edo entertainment, evident in his frequent use of the hashtag #edototheworld. “I’m a proud and unapologetically Edo son,” he declares. “If I don’t promote my culture, who will?”
This dedication stems from a deep love for his roots. “I love to promote and celebrate my people because without them, there’s no Nosa Obaseki.”
Despite challenges, Obaseki remains driven. “Several times I’ve thought of quitting my artistic pursuits and just focus on my school job. But there are still a few people encouraging me to keep doing what I know how to do best. Sometimes, I believe things will change for the better. So, I will keep pushing,” he said.
