A brand that combines current design with sustainability and traditional artistry is hard to find. These two attributes distinguish Michybeth as a frontier in women’s fashion globally.
Established in 2019 by the brilliant Moses Olasunkanmi Adebayo, the brand has not only grown. Still, it has also been successful in transforming the way women perceive fashion—a clothing line that sprang from the roots of West Africa, Nigeria. Michybeth encourages individuals to discover and express their identities through their wardrobe choices while also reflecting the adventurous attitude of contemporary youth.
Throughout the years, Michybeth has been able to maintain its Nigerian heritage by promoting global unity and showing the grace of African design. The testament to Michybeth’s appeal is its capacity to transcend national borders while staying loyal to its roots.
Beyond creating mind-blowing appearances, the brand is still very committed to sustainability. The brand works to reduce the environmental effects of its designs by using sustainable production practices and sourcing organic materials.
Moreover, the brand continues to be a shining example of sustainability and style, proving that clothes can be both comfortable and classic.
Michybeth also works hard to keep their supply chain open and honest so all the workers who work on their products are treated fairly and paid fairly for their work.
In 2023, Moses introduced a line of designs that nod to boldness and modern style. Each outfit uses vivid colours, eye-catching shapes, and adaptable cuts to convey optimism and confidence.
For some reason, the 2023 collection extends the discussions on inheritance and individuality; it is a visual adventure.
How about you hop on the ride already as we take you on a journey of culture and style?
First on our list is the light-pink jumpsuit.
This set features a one-shoulder jumpsuit made specially to provide a feminine look to the wearer. This outfit evokes confidence, harmony, and undeniable style; it is perfect for the woman who wants to be more. Does this design deserve a space in your wardrobe? Why? It gives a bold structure and effortless movement.
Let’s talk about design. What do you think at first glance? Beyond commanding enough attention, the soft pink jumpsuit comes with a structured look and detailed tailoring. The cut is clean and sharp, highlighting intentional craftsmanship. The overlap is not a bad idea, but we feel it’s not so necessary.
Why? The hanging flap at the upper body appears like an excess and may be flagged, judging by sustainable fashion ethics. Maybe the overlap wouldn’t have been completely unwanted if it had been created with a complementary shade like cream or sky blue or a contrasting shade like black. No doubt, this colour combination would have been more flattering than a monotone like pink. Nonetheless, we don’t have a problem with the shade as a stand-alone; the overlap makes all the designer’s efforts appear too ordinary.
Though this look appears to secure the bodice firmly, it could pose a challenge in terms of functionality, and by this, we are referring to events and occasions for which this outfit is ideal. For instance, a highly professional setting might want to take a second look at the sleeves. For the most part, the slanted neckline isn’t a problem at all, but no sleeves? The wearer might want to reconsider having a backup plan, like a blazer.
Anyway, this doesn’t compromise the look, but stepping into the room without any additional covering would have sent the designer’s message without any further explanations. But besides the office setting syndrome, this suit is a show-stopper.
Additionally, Moses’s attention to the length of the trousers is bold. It’s not too long or too short like traditional boot cuts.
The length speaks to flexibility in styling. With this type of length, a pair of 4-inch stilettoes, pencil or block heels, or even some complementary sneakers would not tamper with the outfit’s statement. But while we may argue for a more snuggling waist, this partial loose-fit waist offers more comfort. Kudos to the designer.
One outstanding criterion for appraising this outfit is the designer’s eagle eyes for finishing touches. It’s one thing to make a beautiful piece and another to pay keen attention to the final statements. If we are being honest, this is where the designer takes more credit.
Why? Not so many fashion creators understand this secret, and we are glad that Michybeth has passed this test. Take a closer look from the back; this piece adds a whole new level of attraction. The jumpsuit’s solid, structural shape is made even stronger by the firm shoulder-length cut and back zipper. This view illustrates the balance between being just a tailor and a professional fashion creator. No offence.
We mentioned earlier that this ensemble may raise an eyebrow for a 100 per cent formal gathering; however, the outing ideas for such an appearance are limitless; talk about an exciting evening outing, an art gallery function, or a casual or romantic date. If you are looking to capture attention for that next party outing on your calendar, look this way: While at that, you can consider getting some attention-grabbing accessories.
Again, since the colour is so vibrant, you may want to opt for simple styling. You can add a simple neckpiece and ear jewellery to complete the look. Don’t overdo the hair; the less there is, the better.
This alternative piece from Michybeth is gorgeous. Like the former, it commands attention at first sight. It is a statement piece for the everyday woman who wants to be bold and stylish.
Looking at this design, as well as the previous one, we’ve come to a premise: Michybeth has a thing for unconventional necklines. For us, this is originality at its peak.
Speaking of creativity, on the surface, it might appear to be the easiest choice, but it’s certainly not. The top part of the piece – the neckline, the cut-out part, and the additional black material – adds a new, unusual twist to classic tailoring. The uniqueness of the neckline oozes creativity. From the front, the black material added provides a little contrast to the light blue colour of the piece without overwhelming the style.
And then the style continues down, long, straight, and free at the bottom. The length elongates the frame, while the cut adds a delicate, almost dramatic finish. The shape is smooth from the side; it flows beautifully but retains the overall structure and comfort.
There’s a fine line between bold design and visual complexity, and this piece walks that line delicately.
While the creativity is commendable, the distinct neckline and trousers together create a strong visual statement that may not suit all occasions. Still, the coordination between structure and fluidity reflects a confident design approach – one that favours individuality over convention.
For a blend of both sophistication and power, finish the look with a sleek, pointed heel made with black leather. A simple yet purposeful accessory would complement this piece, like a cuff bracelet that matches the piece. A structured micro bag or envelope clutch in matte black or metallic silver would complete the look, making it appropriate for both high-fashion streetwear and sleek evening wear.
Structure and movement, ease and confidence, tradition and insurrection are all carefully blended in the design of this piece. We want to add here that Moses is an unpredictable player when it comes to the game of colour theory. For the first design, we’d suggested a fusion of other complementary colours, but here we are, in the middle of a conglomeration of tones. Yet, their voices echo the same music: sophistication.
Both outfits, we must confess, appeal to the modern woman who values bold features while maintaining timelessness. In a nutshell, the adaptability of Michybeth’s 2023 collection is magical. Every piece redefines you, your emotions, and your narrative, whether you’re going for a dramatic statement or a timeless, elegant style.
This brand has proven that true fashion creates harmony between style and originality by complementing rather than overpowering.
