The family of Evangelist Morris Fadehan, a Pastor with the Celestial Church of Christ in the Ilode area of Ile-Ife, Osun State who was murdered inside the church has raised the alarm over the delay in getting justice on the alleged murder case.
To this end, the family has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to wade into the alleged murder of their breadwinner.
The daughter of the deceased pastor, Fadehan Ayotomiwa said one Lekan Oguundipe who allegedly made confessions regarding the killing of her father was arrested in connection with the alleged murder case but more needed to be done.
Fadehan was gruesomely murdered in broad-day inside his church; Celestial Church of Christ, Grace of Comfort, Ilode, Ile-Ife on Monday, February 26, 2024.
The family expressed dismay with the sudden interest allegedly shown by some prominent figures in the state, adding that since the case started some members of the family have been receiving strange calls asking them to drop the case.
“We are of the opinion that if police could be determined to intensify their investigation on the broad-day killing, more culprits could be arrested,” she said.
The family noted that Lekan could not have carried out the dastardly act alone without the knowledge of some other people.
She said “There have been several misunderstandings between the deceased and Lekan, anytime this happens, he (Lekan) has many supporters in the church that he always uses against the deceased.
“Lekan couldn’t have carried out the dastard act alone on that day without assistance from his co-haters of the deceased in the church.
“Threats from different angles are countless, saying that we want to fight the powerful and influential people in the society. The sudden interest shown by some who is who in Osun State towards the matter caught us as a surprise. Of a truth, we have nobody except God as this is taking a different dimension now.
“That is why we are calling on the Inspector General of Police to wade into this matter and help the helpless, this case must be thoroughly investigated and no sinner must go unpunished.
“Life has been so miserable for the wife and children of our beloved Fadehan since his untimely death. Nobody to cater for them as fathers. He was a perfect example of a family man while alive and his contributions to the extended family can never be overlooked.
“If we allow evil people to flex muscle in our society because of those standing as their godfathers, the repercussions could be dangerous,” she added.
She called on NGOs and the international community to lend voices to their predicament, saying that life has been miserable for the immediate members of the family since the death of their breadwinner.
