A family of six, including a man, his wife, and their four children, were reportedly crushed by a passenger train in Orhuwhorun, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State. The family’s vehicle was parked near the track at the train terminal in Odijpata, waiting for the train to pass, when it was suddenly hit and flung into a nearby ditch.

The incident, which occurred on Friday, left the family badly injured. They were rushed to an undisclosed hospital, and their current condition is unknown.

According to sources, the train driver did not stop after the crash. Passersby rescued the family and took them to the hospital.

Local sources reported that the vehicle was damaged beyond repair, with the windscreen shattered and the contents scattered on the road. The train terminal in Odijpata was reportedly not functioning, and the workers who were supposed to barricade the road were not present.

Despite the severity of the incident, the Delta State Police Command claimed no report of the accident was filed at the Ovwain police station, which covers the area. When pressed further, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, maintained his stance, simply stating “no report of such” without providing further clarification or explanation.
