FAAN to crack down on touting, harassment of passengers at airports

By Chinelo Obogo

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has set up a task force to crack down on touting and harassment of passengers at airports.

The Managing Director of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, who spoke on this recently in her office said the Authority is aware that there have been cases of passengers at Nigerian airports being harassed and extorted by louts, creating a negative experience for travelers. She also declared her intention to personally engage with all government agencies operating at the airports to ensure compliance with the anti-touting and anti-extortion measures.

She warned that there would be strict disciplinary action for misconduct as a dedicated task force has been established, led by Mr. Henry Agbebire. She also said magistrate courts will be set up at international airports to prosecute offenders quickly, while dedicated phone lines and QR codes will allow passengers to report harassment or bad experiences.

She reiterated FAAN’s commitment to delivering exceptional service and ensuring a safe and secure environment for all passengers and airport users.
