Voters in Cross River State should prepare for a new political direction as the Social Democratic Party (SDP) says it will field candidates ready to “change the state’s story” in 2027.

State Chairman Stella Archibong, who disclosed this during an interview in Calabar, said the party has completed internal restructuring from ward to state level despite unresolved disputes at the national level.

“In Cross River State, we have determined that we will not be shaken,” Archibong said. “Congresses have been organised, state chapter chairmen are in place, and ward officers are carrying out their duties as they should.”

The party chairman said the State Working Committee meeting has been scheduled to finalise who will contest and for which offices. She urged the electorate to look beyond current political frustrations.

“We are the next alternative in Cross River State and the electorate should look forward to wonderful results,” she stated. “We will produce candidates who will stand and change the narrative. That is what they should expect from the SDP.”

Archibong acknowledged that the national party is battling legal disputes but stressed that the Cross River SDP has moved ahead to build a functional structure.

She said the party’s focus is on producing credible candidates who can address issues of governance, unemployment, and infrastructure.

“The people are tired of the same old story,” she said. “SDP is offering something different. Our candidates will stand and change the narrative and deliver a new chapter for the state.”
