Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze, a former presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reiterated his call for a united Nigeria where all ethnic groups feel they have a genuine stake in the nation’s future.
In a statement titled “Hope for Nigeria,” Anakwenze expressed his vision for a country where leadership is based on merit, and where fairness, hard work, and accountability define the national character.
He emphasized the need for true democracy in Nigeria, starting with ensuring freedom for citizens and fostering trust in governance.
“We want a new Nigeria where all ethnic groups feel they have a stake in the country’s future,” Anakwenze said in the statement.
“We envision a country where leadership is based on merit, and a place where the governed have trust in the governance and believe they can vote and be voted for.”
Anakwenze further outlined his desire for a nation where ethnic diversity is embraced and seen as a strength, contributing to the country’s rich heritage. He also advocated for equity, fairness, and justice, ensuring that the rights of both the majority and the minority are upheld.
The former presidential aspirant stressed the importance of fostering a healthy competitive spirit among Nigerians, particularly the younger generation. “Let’s make our children superstars through competition and excellence,” he urged, highlighting the academic and professional success of Nigerian youth abroad as evidence of the potential that can be harnessed in the country.
Anakwenze also emphasized the importance of unity, calling for greater love and understanding between Nigerians of different regions, ethnicities, and religions. He cited Nigeria’s vast natural resources, including its fertile land, abundant food crops, and solid minerals, as key assets that could help transform the nation’s economy.
