•Urges court to dismiss charges against him
From Godwin Tsa, Abuja
The former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman has told a Federal High Court that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has not made a prima facie case linking him to alleged complicity in a N31.70bn fraud as he closed his defence.
In urging the court to dismiss the charges against him, Mamman relied on both his evidence and testimonies of some of the prosecution witnesses whom he claimed had exonerated him from the alleged fraud.
Meanwhile, Justice James Omotosho stopped the attempt by the defendant to call a subpoenaed witness, Abdulkareem Ibrahim Ozi, who had already testified as a prosecution witness as (Pw2), as his witness in the matter.

EFCC had alleged that the defendant conspired and used bank accounts of various private companies to siphon funds from the coffers of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, on false pretence that the money was used for the payment of compensations.
Specifically, the prosecution alleged that it discovered multiple suspicious transactions traced through various corporate accounts using Bureau de Change operators.
The former minister had since denied the allegations that he personally instructed such payments to the identified channels through which the money was paid.
