From Okey Sampson, Umuahia
The immediate past Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Orji, has been appointed as the chairman, City Boy Movement (CBM), a support group galvanising support for the Renewed Hope Agenda President Bola Tinubu in Abia State.
Announcing the appointment in Umuahia, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, Director of the CBM in Abia State, said Orji’s appointment was based on his sterling leadership quality.
He described the former Speaker’s appointment as not only a good development, but also a turning point for the organisation in the South East.
“Today, we haven’t just added a name to our roster; we have gained a General. Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji is a builder by profession and a builder of men by calling. His acceptance to serve as our Chairman signals a new dawn for the City Boy Movement in the South East. With Ikukuoma, the wind of progress is now at our backs,” Igbokwe said.
He stated further that with Orji as the state chairman of CBM, a significant boost has been brought to the movement’s political mobilisation drive in the state. The group also described his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a move that has further strengthened the party’s structure and expanded its grassroots reach in the state. Igbokwe noted that Orji as a recipient of several honours, including the prestigious The Sun Public Service Award and Champion Newspaper’s Most Outstanding Speaker, underscored his record of public service.
He added that the movement remains committed to mobilising citizens in support of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
