European scouts hail Green Atlas Academy scouting programme

European scouts thumb up Green Atlas Academy scouting programme as flawless in terms of organization, security and the abundant talents on displayed at the venue of the exercise with several players already penciled down for trials outside the country.

The exercise, which started on Tuesday at the Aguiyi Ironsi Barracks, Abuja, witnessed eight teams participating in the exercise. Some of the team are, NAF Feeder Team, Golden Boys FC of Abuja, Kingsley Soccer Football Academy, FWC Champions and three different teams from Green Atlas FC.

Addressing the media on Friday, the scouts led by Amaechi Otti, an ex-international based in Belgium, described the exercise as a top-notch and enthused that Nigeria is blessed with an array of talents that need to be nurtured and taken overseas for professional playing careers.

He also praised the Chairman of Green Atlas FC, Dr Tayo Moses Adebisi, for his passion for football and highlighted that the selected players have the potential to be the next generation of stars in the world.

“The quality we have seen so far is top-notch; I want to appreciate everyone who has made the exercise a success. The chairman has brought a lot expertise to set up the Academy and I can assure you that very soon the results will start manifesting’’

Speaking also at the occasion, another Belgian ex-international, Theodore Zakka [team mate with late Stephen Keshi] at Anderlecht FC, disclosed that we have seen amazing skills, tremendous talents at play in the last three days. It’s has been exhilarating. “I’m confident that in the next few months, you will see these players making headlines.”

The Chairman of the club, Amb. Adebisi Tayo Moses said the club ‘aim is to nurture youths to fulfil their potentials. We have 100 players in our Academy but we brought 45 of them to participate in the scouting programme with 8 teams in attendance’.

‘Otti has been given us advice and tips on how to succeed. Yes, the talents are here but not all of them will go to Europe. Some North Africa, Asia, some too will play in the Nigerian league’

The club Financial Advisor, Vincent Akinbami told our correspondent that ‘the core aim of the club is financial sustainability’. We intend to be self-sustaining as soon as possible. All hands on deck to achieve that’ he said.

The scouting programme will end today with series of activities lined up by the organizer.
