A student of the College of Medicine, Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH) Parklane, Enugu, Ms Bill Nmesomachukwu Success has won the star prize of N100,000 in the maiden edition of the Devotional Challenge 2023.
The programme which ran for weeks in the month of May, was a competition of the life-changing Spirit Prays Daily Devotional (SPDD), hosted daily on Youtube by the International President of Pleasant Gathering, Mrs. Joy Ogbonnaya.
Many people participated in the devotional contest. The criteria were among others for a participant to produce a 5-minute video depicting a Christian morning devotion in an African home with not less than 1000 views and 50 comments within the stipulated time. At the end, only one contestant emerged the overall winner.
Presenting cheque to the winner at an award ceremony organized by the Pleasant Gathering in Enugu, Coordinator of the Devotional Challenge, Pastor Uche Agbaeze, on behalf of the SPDD team, thanked all the contestants for their effort, especially the star prize winner.
He also applauded the South Africa-based award sponsor, Pastor Christian Chime for his generosity and encouragement, and called on other good-spirited individuals to sponsor the next editions.
Agbaeze enjoined the winner to be an ardent student of the word of God and also a crusader of the Gospel of Jesus Christ which is the basis and motive of the Devotional Challenge 2023: “We want to thank you and congratulate you and say we are not just giving you the money for you to just enjoy it. The aim is that the scriptures should be your standard for living. You should also go out and preach the gospel and also invite more people to watch the Spirit Praise Devotional on Youtube.”
The highly elated winner, Nmesomachukwu described the challenge as tasking and yet worth the effort. She appreciated friends and loved ones who assisted her to make it to the top.
International President of Pleasant Gathering, Joy Ogbonnaya, encouraged the winner and all and sundry to keep shining the light of the Gospel. She said that Pleasant Gathering was a movement, explaining that its vision has remained: “equipping and empowering the next generation to fulfil destiny and become a people of integrity with high ethical standards.”
