From Ndubuisi Orji, Abuja
Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives Philip Agbese has urged the Federal Government to intervene in the ecological problem in the Ideato North/ Ideato South Federal Constituency of Imo State.
Agbese, in a statement, said the people of Ideato have been neglected by successive administrations over the years. Consequently, he stated there is an urgent need for the federal government to take drastic steps to improve the lives of the people.
The lawmaker, while reacting to the lamentation by the member representing Ideato North / Ideato South, Ikenga Ikeagwuonu Ugochinyere, in a trending video, showing a flooded erosion site, said the news coming out of “Ideato is worrisome, pathetic and shameful. “
Agbese, who represents Ado /Okpokwu/ Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State, said every part of Nigeria and all citizens deserve equal privileges and opportunities irrespective of religion and tribe.
He said “The current situation in Ideato is pathetic and worrisome, to say the least. Insecurity is the day’s order. There is no sign of government presence there.
“I want to use this medium to call on the Federal Government to pay attention to the cry of these people. As a listening father, I know President Bola Tinubu will act but we want it done swiftly.”
The Deputy House spokesman lauded Ugochinyere for bringing the plight of his people to public light, noting that “even before his foray to the National Assembly, Ugochinyere has always been a voice for his people and indeed Nigerians. His continuous cry is born out of patriotism and passion.”
