Liverpool have reached an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain to sign France international forward Bradley Barcola in a deal worth about £120 million (€140 million).
More than £100 million of the proposed fee is guaranteed, with Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon working to complete the remaining details on Thursday.
The agreement has not yet been signed, meaning the transfer is still subject to finalising the outstanding terms. However, the development represents a major step towards Liverpool landing their preferred attacking target.
Barcola, 23, emerged as Liverpool’s leading candidate to strengthen their attack and eventually replace Mohamed Salah. The winger has two years remaining on his PSG contract but has made it clear that he does not want to extend his stay in Paris.
His situation at the French champions intensified after he was omitted from the squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Rennes, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Barcola enjoyed a productive 2025/26 campaign, making 49 appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists as PSG retained their Ligue 1 title and continued their dominance in Europe.
The Lyon academy graduate has also established himself as an important France international, featuring in all eight of his country’s matches at this summer’s World Cup and scoring three goals.
Liverpool’s move could also have consequences for Cody Gakpo, who has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City during the transfer window.
Barcola primarily operates from the left wing but can also play on the opposite flank, giving Liverpool another direct and pacey attacking option as the club reshapes its forward line.
The proposed deal would make Barcola one of the most expensive signings in Liverpool’s history, underlining the club’s determination to add a high-impact forward to its squad.
