Nigeria and 24 African nations are set to strengthen bilateral ties with Brazil on renewable energy, manufacturing, and food security.
The announcement was made by the president of Expo Africa Brazil, João Canda, in a statement yesterday ahead of a summit on new economic corridors.
He disclosed that the summit will run from December 3 to 5, 2026, saying the programme will feature policy dialogues, sector panels, and government-to-business engagements aimed at turning diplomatic ties into commercial agreements.
Canda said, “The EXPO AFRICA BRAZIL has positioned itself as the principal platform for economic cooperation between Africa, Brazil, and the Americas.”
He added that, with the global economy shifting towards emerging markets, the 2026 summit comes at a critical moment for South-South trade.
According to him, the three-day gathering will bring together government officials, private sector leaders, and multilateral institutions to discuss investment, infrastructure, energy, agribusiness, technology, and financing.
“The event is expected to host delegations from more than 25 African countries, alongside senior representatives from the Brazilian government, Latin American institutions, and international business groups. Organizers project attendance of over 1,000 delegates, including ministers, CEOs, and development finance leaders.
“Discussions will focus on removing trade barriers, improving logistics between West Africa and South America, and creating joint ventures in manufacturing, renewable energy, and food security,” he said.

Meanwhile, the president announced that the President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, will be honoured with the Expo Africa Brazil Leadership Award 2026, the highest international distinction conferred by the organisers of Expo Africa Brazil.
He explained that the award was approved unanimously by the Expo’s International Honors Committee, saying the decision reflects “one of the most significant institutional resolutions adopted since the creation of the platform.”
He added that: “This recognition celebrates not only extraordinary business achievement, but a lifetime commitment to industrializing Africa, creating jobs, and positioning the continent as a central player in global trade.
“Mr. Dangote embodies the vision we seek to advance: bold leadership, cross-continental partnership, and transformative impact.
“The decision to honor Dangote, analysts note, underscores the growing importance of African industrial capacity in global supply chains. As founder of one of Africa’s largest conglomerates with operations in cement, agriculture, and energy, Dangote has led some of the continent’s most ambitious industrial projects.
“The award is intended to highlight African entrepreneurship as a driver of the new Africa-Brazil partnership.
“Africa brings demographic growth and productive capacity. Brazil brings market access and industrial experience.
“Leaders like Alhaji Dangote show what is possible when that potential is matched with long-term investment,” he added.
