Barr. Titus Onuora Odo, the Labour Party State Publicity Secretary has revealed why his party is the only party eligible to contest in the upcoming Local Government election in Enugu state.
Odo, who is the Labour Party candidate for the forth-coming council chairmanship elections in Igbo-Eze North reiterated that according to the guidelines of Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) only LP meet up with submission of Candidates
“The forth-coming local government is going to be a solo contest. The only political party that is qualified to contest for that election is Labour Party alone. The body responsible for the conduct of local government elections known as ENSIEC brought out a time table for the elections and on the table, there was a time frame within which all the political parties must conduct their primaries and submit list of their candidates. It was Labour Party that complied with the guidelines. That’s to surmise that other political parties stand the risk of being disqualified going by the ENSIEC guide- lines.”
He unveiled all these at a press conference in Lagos adding that he is going to set up a proper internally generated revenue mechanism in order to generate more revenue to enable him execute basic fundamental developmental projects
“Aside being the only candidate validly nominated and elected in line with Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) guide-lines, I’m the most credible, accessible, responsible, accountable and proactive.
“I have plans to create and distribute wealth through Internally generated revenue. We are going to set up a proper internally generated revenue mechanism in order to generate more revenue to enable us execute basic fundamental developmental projects I’m prepared to take our local government out of the woods. I have a clear vision for my people. I have moved round the entire wards and have pin- pointed their individual problems. I have carefully and critically carried out an extensive research on how best to govern our local government and have consequently come up with a development blueprint.
“In the area of security, we are going to come up with an integrated security system that will make security everybody’s business. We are going to ensure proper funding of security and legitimate utilisation of security votes, if elected.
“In the area of infrastructures, we will do our best to expand the frontiers of development. All the existing infrastructures will become healthy and functional,” he stated.
