The Group Managing Director of Copen Group, Rev. Dr Ugochukwu Chime, a surveyor, has reiterated his commitment towards providing affordable and high-quality housing for all people in Enugu State.

Surveyor Chime made the promise during the flag off of asphalt laying of internal roads in the newly built Shalom Gardens, located in Premier Layout, in the Enugu State capital.

The flag-off was witnessed by the Enugu State Commissioner for Housing, Gerald Otiji, his works counterpart, Ben Osy Okoh, Executive Chairman, Enugu State Internal Revenue Service (ESIRS), Mr. Emmanuel Ekene Nnamani, Chairman, Enugu North Municipal Council, Dr Ibenaku Harford Onoh and other dignitaries.

The Copen Group’s managing director disclosed that his vision was driven by the commitment to building lives and structures, aiming to make home ownership accessible.

He noted that Shalom Gardens is now in a fast-developing area and offering the right deal at the right time.

He said: “Shalom Gardens is a luxury estate situated in Premier Layout, Enugu, with a total of 29 housing units ranging from five bedroom terrace triplex, five bedroom semi-detached duplex, and five bedroom fully detached duplex.”

Chime, who is the former National President of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN) and a recipient of inductions into the Affordable Housing Hall of Fame, said he is an advocate for sustainable development, innovation, and public-private partnerships in the construction sector.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Housing, Otiji, said: “This is part of South East, not just South East, it is the heart of the whole Eastern region and every easterner wants to have a development in Enugu State, and that is why His Excellency began the development of about 10,000 hectares just almost the same size of old Enugu, and what we should know is that government alone cannot build infrastructure. “There’s always a need for the private sector to come in. I honestly commend you because the price you have made in expansion of Enugu and development of Enugu, and with the quality of building you’re putting in place is also recommendable, and we know that this is not going to be the end of it.

“You have done a lot of work towards the expansion of Enugu and the government of Enugu State is open to partnership with the private sector, and I assure you that you are going to get all the necessary support you need from the state government, to ensure that this mission and all the houses in Enugu are taken care of. Once again, we want to thank you and your staff for this wonderful effort.”

Also, the Commissioner for Works, Okoh, commended Surveyor Chime for his good works in the development of the state.

He said: “You always pursue this vision irrespective of the climate of the country and you have continued to deliver. Thank you for creating the investment climate in Enugu and even going beyond to building houses and infrastructure, as well as encouraging other people doing businesses that are similar and investing in different areas of businesses to borrow a leaf from Copen.

“While these things are going on it might be difficult for the government, but when we have partnership it will be easier.

I want to thank you for the road that you are constructing around the estate.”

Other speakers, including the former State Commissioner for Science and Technology, an indigene of the host community, Ogui, Chief Chuka Ayogu, praised the Copen Group’s boss for his developmental projects, saying they are proud of him.
