An Abuja-based businessman and philanthropist, Dr. Freeman Ezeiruaku, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 National Assembly elections.
He secured the party’s ticket at a keenly contested primary election held over the weekend, monitored by party officials deployed from both the state and national levels.

The Returning Officer, Onwe Darlington Peter, announced that Freeman polled 1,037 votes out of the 1,051 accredited delegates to emerge as the PDP flag bearer for the constituency.
He described the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and credible, noting that the outcome reflected the acceptance and confidence party members have in the candidate.
According to him, agents of all other aspirants signed the result sheets, an indication of broad acceptance of the outcome. “Unlike what obtains in some other political parties, this was a peaceful exercise for us in the PDP. There was no disturbance, distraction or rancour.
