#EndBadGovernance: Abuja residents resume protest, Ibadan, Abeokuta join demonstration

Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) returned to the streets on Saturday following a brief moment of calm, resuming the #EndBadGovernance protest.

The nationwide protest which started on August 1 was halted as a result of raids on houses of organisers and the arrest of one of them.

The demonstration enters its tenth day today, culminating in a million-man march across the nation.

A Punch correspondent reported a heavy presence of security operatives around the Central Business District areas of the FCT.

Additionally, security operatives were also stationed in Eagle Square, with the report revealing that the protesters took to the streets as early as 7 am.

The demonstrators were observed chanting “End hunger” and “Reverse fuel subsidy removal,” among others.

In solidarity, citizens in Ibadan, Akure, and Abeokuta also protested, as revealed by pictures posted online by the former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2019 and 2023 general elections, Omoyele Sowore.

As expected, the demonstrators wielded banners with different inscriptions expressing their dissatisfaction with the economic hardship in the country.
