From Emmanuel Adeyemi, Lokoja
A People’s Democratic party women leader, Princess Grace Iye Adejoh has sent a passionate appeal to President Bola Tinubu and all the 36 governors in the country to do something urgently to stop the ravaging hunger and starvation in the country saying
In a press statement made available to newsmen in lokoja, the women leader said, it was so sad that government is watching helplessly it’s citizens dying in droves of hunger and hardship while nothing tangible is done
According to Princess Grace Iye Adejoh until the efforts of government translate to the ordinary Nigerian having food to eat, then it’s best means nothing.
The statement reads in part:
“It is insensitive for food to be served in Aso rock when the ordinary Nigerian has not eaten or milk fails from the suckling mother to feed her Infant, because she herself, has no means to feed, at least for that purpose.
“A certain civil servant went to the market and came back crying, when asked what the matter was, his response was ‘ How did we get here?’ Poor thing! How did we really get here and how are we going to get out are answers we must provide and act upon as a matter of urgency.
“The average civil servant no longer dreams of owning, a roof over their head or drive a car, clothing, is a luxury, those dreams have died, all they want is food to stop their hunger.
“All the masses want is to end hunger, and this with no delay. One can conveniently say that more Nigerians have died, with hunger as root cause than any other reason, of recent.
“If this government will still blame previous governments, in defence of the present prevailing hardship in Nigeria, then not only have they failed, but also, we as Nigerians, are the most hopeless citizens alive, God forbid.
“The past administration should by all standard be the worst, nothing in all human sense should beat it. To beat it, is death.
” I besiege this government to suspend all activities and put all energy towards ending hunger in Nigeria. We are not talking about ending poverty, that’s a bigger picture, end hunger first, because ending it will be the driving force or beginning of ending all other issues, for a hungry man, is indeed an angry man.
“The only program to be prioritized now in government and even in our media and religious houses is ending hunger in Nigeria” she added
