People Living with Disabilities (PWDs) have pleaded with President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to consider their financial strength before implementing the proposed electricity tariff increment.
PWD, under the umbrella of Kehinde Oshilaja Foundation, made the plea ahead of the proposed electricity tariff hike which becomes effective from July 1.
The coordinator and founder of the foundation, Kehinde Oshilaja, while speaking at their monthly meeting on Thursday, said it was time Governor Sanwo-Olu assisted the PWD and, indeed, over 22 million residents of the state and also prevailed on the Federal Government to provide all what would mitigate the effect of the increment on people if, eventually implemented.
He said: “Let our kind-hearted governor of the aquatic splendour avail the masses, particularly, people living with disabilities with some measures that would cushion the effect on us.
“Also, let me use this opportunity to inform our loving governor that the said issue if actually implemented, would no doubt affect majority of the people living with disabilities and, indeed, the poor masses of Nigeria.”
He also tasked the Federal Government and National Assembly to compel electricity distribution to provide free prepaid meters in abundance to all and sundry within the next two months or less.
