Voting has commenced in some polling units in Makurdi the Benue state capital.

This is just as the streets in Makurdi, have also been deserted with many voters trapped at various bus stops waiting either for motorcycles or other means to get to their voting points.

At the Immigration/Cemetery 012 polling unit, Wurukum Makurdi, voters were seen on queue as they were being attended to by the polling officers.

An election officer who didn’t give his name said voting began at 8am as soon as they returned from they collected their materials.

Meanwhile our correspondent observed that only a few people were at the other polling units.

It is however still early to say there is voter apathy.
