Eid al-Adha: Wike sends warm greetings to Muslims, reaffirms commitment to peace, dev’t in FCT

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as join in facilitating with Muslims in the territory as they celebrate Eid-al-Adha, the sacred festival.

In his message, the Minister

 emphasised the profound values that Eid-al-Adha represents, saying, “This is a time to reflect on the deeper meaning of submission to the will of Allah, and to recommit ourselves to compassion, generosity, and unity.” He highlighted the spirit of sacrifice and faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) as a guiding principle for all.

The Minister also praised the Muslim community in the FCT for their significant contributions to peace and coexistence within the territory. “Your values and sense of community are integral to our shared progress,” he noted.

According to him, under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, the FCT Administration has made notable strides in infrastructure, security, and social welfare. Minister Wike stated, “We have made commendable progress in infrastructure development, security enhancement, and social welfare interventions, all aimed at improving the quality of life for every resident of the FCT.”

Looking ahead, the Minister announced plans to commission numerous completed projects across sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and transportation in celebration of President Tinubu’s second year in office. “These projects stand as visible proof of our commitment to delivering tangible, impactful change and building a capital city that reflects the hopes and aspirations of all Nigerians,” he said.

Addressing security concerns during the holiday period, Wike reassured residents that security agencies are working tirelessly to maintain safety. “Abuja remains the safest city in the country, and we are doing everything possible to keep it that way,” he affirmed.

He also clarified recent public anxiety caused by a quarry-related explosion, which was initially mistaken for a suicide bombing. “This incident was industrial in nature, not an act of terrorism. Immediate investigations were conducted, and appropriate safety measures are being reinforced,” the Minister explained.

Wike concluded by calling  on residents to remember the less privileged during the celebrations. “Let the spirit of Eid inspire us to share, to uplift, and to show kindness to those in need,” he urged.

On behalf of the FCT Administration, he wished everyone a joyful, safe, and spiritually fulfilling Eid, praying, “May Allah accept our prayers and sacrifices, and may He continue to bless the FCT and our dear nation, Nigeria.”
