Amnesty International has vowed to ensure any political actor undermining freedom and peace in the build-up to the 2027 general election faces international scrutiny and possible sanctions.
The human rights group disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
Amnesty frowned on the issuance of inciting and divisive rhetoric by political actors during ongoing campaigns, saying it has begun documenting such as evidence.

The group said, “Amnesty International is closely monitoring and documenting reckless, inciting and divisive remarks by politicians and their associates during ongoing campaigns. Those found to have been using campaigns to undermine freedom and peace will be held accountable under to international law.
Some political actors that have faced criticism recently for allegedly spreading divisive rhetoric or encouraging political violence include Senator for Osun East, Senator Francis Fadahunsi; Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru;
Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the FCT, Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo; and Borno State Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation, Youth and Sports Development, Sainna Buba.
