‘Effective strategies, organisational tool to create lasting impact with employees’

Economic experts have listed strategies that Nigerian organisations can use to create lasting impact with their employees, in the nation’s fledgling business environment

With the release of latest inflation report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), analysts have warned  that consumer prices will remain elevated in the near term and have projected headline inflation to settle at 22 per cent by end of April. This is expected to create a negative impact on an economy whose citizens are yet to recover from the recent cash crunch and increases in food prices.

However, speaking during a recent forum tagged; Creating lasting impact with employee well-being, some experts  argued that the creation of wellness programmes, retreat sessions, motivation as well as inculcating sense of belonging as strategies organisations can leverage on creating impact with their employees.

The Founder, Happyness Centre, Akshay Jain, said, there is need for organisations to develop coping mechanisms for their employees as this would increase  productivity, creativity and bring better harmony among colleagues.

“These factors are very strategic and organisations worldwide are embracing it. In our experience and with what we have seen, there is a huge shift in the happiness quotient of an employee when these factors are embraced. When employees are happy, that is like a ripple effect because a happy person will create a happy society which in turn will create a happy country and so there is a huge impact through the individual, family, society, corporations and then the government”, Jain said.

Also speaking, the Chief Operating Officer, Whyte Cleon Limited, Nireti Adebayo, noted that leadership skills are lacking in some corporations, adding that the hierarchical factor is creating challenges in communication.

“We are too hierarchical in Nigeria and this is why there is a need to create trust between leadership and employees. We need to create a free communication environment and not a toxic environment”, Adebayo said.
