Creativity comes in many forms. For some, it’s a gift from the gods, the director of the affairs of men on earth while for others, it’s a continuous strife for excellence. For the few lucky ones, it’s a combination of both and in this category you find Edward Chinonso Ezeugwu, popularly known on social media as Edweirdo. A creative, confident and outgoing person who has built a strong presence online by being himself.
He is not such a difficult man to locate. He practically lives his life online. He is active on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram, where he shares content about lifestyle, personal experiences and everyday issues. His content is relatable, unlike the pseudo Rowan Atkinsons that litter the social media space. His content is mainly about connecting with people, making them laugh, sharing his views and encouraging positive conversations.
For Edward, social media is more than just a place to post videos and pictures. It is a place to bridge the gaps and truly socialize. It gives him a chance to meet people, share his experiences and express himself. Over time, he has built a loyal audience that follows him because of his personality, honesty and the way he presents his ideas.
His long-match to stardom didn’t start today. His journey into the public eye started long before he became known as Edweirdo.
During his National Youth Service Corps service year in 2016 in Ondo State, Edward contested for the Mr Macho Ondo State title. And yes, he won!
Such a contest required confidence, discipline and the ability to stand out among his fellow corps members. His victory at the competition was a propeller for him, leading to him participating in Shoot Your Shot, a reality dating show organised and hosted by Africa Magic.
The show gave him the needed opportunity to display his personality to a much larger audience and interact with viewers from Nigeria and other parts of Africa. It was an experience that helped him become more comfortable when facing a large audience and strengthened his interest in entertainment and connecting with people.
Today, the young man has found his steps in the entertainment industry, building a strong name for himself as Edweirdo, his social media identity.
Through his content on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram, he talks about things people can relate to while adding his own personality and sense of humour – a distinct trait that has set up apart from the lot.
He enjoys creating content that gets people talking, laughing or thinking. He also uses his platforms to share parts of his life and experiences with his followers.
From winning a beauty and fitness-related title during NYSC to appearing on reality television and later building a following online, he has continued to take opportunities that allow him to grow, the hallmark of a man willing to dine at the top with those ahead of him.
He believes in learning, meeting new people and making the most of every opportunity that comes his way.
