Education, Infrastructure top my agenda for Nasarawa North – Dodo

Architect Duba Ishaya Dodo (DID), has declared his intention to contest the Nasarawa North Senatorial seat on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Similarly, he has equally pledged to deliver a people-focused representation anchored on education, infrastructure and inclusive development, if eventually given the chance.

He made these known in an interview with Daily Sun in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

Dodo, an indigene of Akwanga Local Government Area, said his decision to seek an elective office was driven by the need to translate years of private humanitarian service into broader public impact through effective legislation and oversight, saying that leadership must be defined by measurable improvement in the lives of the people, not empty promises or political rhetoric.

He further said that “Leadership must go beyond promises. It must be measured by what improves the daily lives of the people. Education, basic infrastructure and human dignity are non-negotiable if our communities must move forward,” he said.

He noted that Nasarawa North, comprising Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon and Wamba local government areas, is rich in human potential but continues to face challenges of poor infrastructure, limited educational opportunities and inadequate federal presence.

According to him, purposeful representation at the National Assembly would help attract critical interventions, improve access to education and strengthen rural development initiatives across the senatorial district.

Over the years, DID, as he is fondly called, has distinguished himself through grassroots humanitarian interventions cutting across the three local government areas in the senatorial district. His initiatives, particularly in education, have earned him recognition among community leaders, youth groups and beneficiaries.

Daily Sun investigations revealed that more than 300 students across Nasarawa North have benefited from his educational support programmes, which included bursaries, tuition assistance and learning materials at a time many families were grappling with economic hardship.

This is even as some beneficiaries have described the interventions as timely and life-changing, noting that the support helped them remain in school when dropping out seemed inevitable.

Beyond education, Daily Sun further gathered that he has also intervened in community infrastructure. In one notable instance, he was said to have personally facilitated the restoration of solar-powered electricity to Ningo Sambe community in Akwanga Local Government Area, thereby ending months of blackout that had disrupted economic, social and educational activities in the area.

Community leaders in the area hailed the intervention as a clear demonstration of responsive leadership and genuine commitment to grassroots development, saying it restored hope and revived small businesses within the community.

As a member of the SDP, Dodo said he is committed to people-centred governance, accountability and social justice, principles he noted, align with both the party’s ideology and his personal values.

He stressed that his aspiration is not driven by personal ambition but by a conviction that Nasarawa North deserves more effective representation at the federal level.

“Nasarawa North deserves purposeful representation—one that listens, engages and delivers. I believe the senate should be a platform to amplify the voices of the people and attract development that directly impacts their lives,” he added.

Dodo also assured constituents that, if elected, he would maintain open communication with communities, prioritise constituency engagement and pursue policies that address education, infrastructure, youth empowerment and social welfare.

With political activities gradually taking shape ahead of future elections, Architect Dodo’s declaration adds to the evolving dynamics within Nasarawa North, as stakeholders begin to assess aspirants based on capacity, credibility and commitment to service.
