The Edo State Executive Council has revoked the appointments of three traditional rulers and reinstated one.

The decisions, announced by Secretary to the State Government Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., affect rulers in Etsako West and Etsako East Local Government Areas (LGAs).

The council revoked Umoru Inusa Umoru’s appointment as Aidenogie of South Ibie, Etsako West, citing no vacancy existed prior to his appointment, and reinstated Alhaji Aliyu Kelvin Danesi as Aidenogie. Similarly, Lukman Akemokue’s appointment as Okuokpellagbe of Okpella, Etsako East, was revoked for violating succession laws under Bendel State Legal Notice 132 of 1979. A selection process for a new Okuokpellagbe has begun.

Dr. George Oshiapi Egabor was removed as Okumagbe of Uwano Kingdom, Agenebode, Etsako East, following his earlier suspension over kidnappings and killings in his domain. A process to select a new ruler is underway. “We urge all subjects of the aforementioned localities/domains to remain calm,” the statement said, affirming the government’s commitment to peace and prosperity.
