Edo Police Intensify Efforts to Rescue Kidnapped Dangote Cement Workers

Following the kidnapping of workers at the Dangote Cement Factory in Okpella, Edo State, Commissioner of Police Funsho Adegboye has ordered a full-scale operation to secure their release and apprehend the perpetrators.

The Commissioner visited the factory and the Halimatu Musa Hospital, where he met with injured victims and issued a directive to the Divisional Police Officer, vigilante groups, and hunters to intensify their search efforts.

According to a statement by the Edo State Police Command, the incident occurred on May 13, 2024, when a bus carrying workers was attacked by suspected kidnappers. One victim, Omoba “M,” was rescued with gunshot wounds and is currently receiving medical attention. Two other victims, who were initially shot during the attack, are also receiving treatment.

The police are actively searching for the remaining victims and have vowed to bring the kidnappers to justice. The statement emphasizes the collaboration between the police, vigilante groups, and hunters in the ongoing operation.
