Hon. Bright Iyamu, the lawmaker representing Orhionmwon South Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, has urged his constituents and supporters to remain calm in the face of provocation following his suspension from the House. He assured them that the issues surrounding his suspension will be resolved soon.

Recall that the Speaker of the House, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, suspended three members, including Hon. Iyamu, for allegedly plotting to effect a change of leadership. The other suspended members are Hon. Donald Okogbe (PDP, Akoko-Edo II) and Hon. Adeh Isibor (APC, Esan North-East Constituency I).

In his first reaction to the suspension, made on Monday, 6th May 2024, Hon. Iyamu, through a statement from his office, denied any involvement in plans to impeach the Speaker or impugn the integrity of the House.

“I had no motive to call for the impeachment of the Speaker, nor the intentions to impugn the integrity of the House,” he stated.

Hon. Iyamu reassured his constituents and supporters that normalcy would be restored soon to the state House of Assembly.
