Edo Guber: Shaibu emerges PDP candidate in parallel primary in Edo

The Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) for the September 21, governorship election in Edo State.

He emerged governorship candidate of the party with over 300 votes in a parallel primary election held at his residence on the Commercial Avenue, Benin City.

Announcing, the results after collation, Bartholomew Moses, the Returning Officer, declared that Shaibu won with an overwhelming majority of over 3000 votes.

Earlier, it was gathered that some delegates of the PDP went to the venue of the primary holding at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium but were denied entering into the venue.

Source said the delegates moved to the deputy governor house located on commercial avenue to brief him of the development.

It was learnt that Shaibu addressed the delegates and advised them to remain peaceful, promising to speak with the primary election committee chairman.

He said the delegates after they were denied accreditation moved to alternative avenue where Shaibu emerged candidate of the PDP for the election.

It was learnt that delegates from 12 local government of the state elected Shaibu as the candidate in a parallel primary.
