Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers yesterday, kidnapped three persons on the Benin-Lagos road Edo state.
It was learnt that the victim were kidnapped by gunmen on the road by Ogbemudia Farm.
It was also learnt that the victim were travelling on the road when the kidnappers accosted a vehicle and whisked away three occupants of the vehicle into the bush.
The spokesperson of the Edo state police command, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident.
He said the hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers attacked an Audi car, green in colour and whisked away three passengers whose identities are yet to be known, from the vehicle into the bush.
He said the police are combing the bush to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and to intercept, neutralize or arrest the suspected kidnappers.
Speaking further, Chidi said, operatives of the command has rescued a kidnapped victim, one Muhammed Jubril unhurt after a gun battle with the kidnappers at Iyuku community bush, in Etsako West local government.
He said one locally single barrel gun, one live cartridge and a cutlass from the kidnappers, who abandoned them and escaped with gunshot injuries were recovered.
He said bush combing of the area is ongoing to arrest the fleeing kidnappers.
