Ebonyi State Executive Council has approved the construction of five roads in the state.
The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, disclosed this at a press briefing on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council meeting.
He noted that the approval was to meet the infrastructural needs of the people and enhance urban and rural road expansion in the state.
He listed the roads as: Ukwuachi-Oshiegbe road in Ezza North Local Government Area, measuring five kilometres, with six kilometres shoulder of existing concrete pavement; four-kilometre Umueziokwu, Nwegbu-Ugwu, Odida Onuafia-Amankwo road; Onicha Local Government Area, 10,843.88m; TTC-Iboko road, Izzi Local Government Area; 200 metres Ezi-Akani Ukpa-Ngodo road, leading to Ngodo community, Afikpo Local Government Area and 172m Ogbodudu Street, Kpirikpiri Abakaliki, the state capital.
He noted that all the roads would be constructed via concrete pavement.
Okpor said the council also approved a memo from the state Ministry of Trade and Investment for the purchase and sale of charcoal stove at N10 million.
“This approval became necessary as it serves as alternative to the high cost of cooking gas and kerosene faced by the citizenry, especially in the rural areas and to as well help in boosting the revenue generation of the state,” the commissioner said.
