President Bola Tinubu has directed the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to intensify investigations into the killing of prominent Islamic preacher, Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka, and his friend, Adamu Abubakar, in Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State.
The duo were reportedly killed by gunmen in a drive-by shooting on Monday evening, prompting the President to condemn the attack and call for the swift arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
Tinubu, who expressed sadness over the incident, described the killings as heinous and an assault on the values of peace and the sanctity of human life.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President directed the police and other relevant security agencies to build on the efforts already being made by the Katsina State Police Command to track down the perpetrators.
He charged the security agencies to ensure that those behind the killings were apprehended and brought to justice.
The President also extended his condolences to the families of the deceased, their followers, and the government and people of Katsina State over the loss.
Tinubu prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims and for strength and comfort for their families and all those mourning them.
