Ebbi champions audacity and confidence for Nigerian women

The Managing Director of The Etiquette Place, Yvonne Ebbi, is set to host the third edition of the She Spark Conference, themed “Woman, Emerge,” at the KLS Centre, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, on Thursday, February 26,  at 11 a.m.

The conference, which has grown into a vibrant platform for professional women, will convene speakers from diverse sectors to inspire women to break barriers, build confidence and pursue purposeful lives. Ebbi said the initiative is designed to equip women with the mindset, values and courage needed to thrive personally and professionally.

Expected speakers at the event include life coach Uche Kachi Asugha; Executive Director, Bank of Industry, Ifeoma Uz’Okpala; Executive Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Valentina Kodjo-Soroh; and Administrator, Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, Olufunke Fowler-Amba.

Others billed to speak are Chairman of the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC), Temitope George; co-founder of So Fresh, Abimbola Balogun; former Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Eniola Ajayi; and Partner at U-Law UUBO, Yinka Edu.

Speaking ahead of the event, Ebbi described She Spark as a growing virtual and physical community of professional women committed to self-development and mutual support. She noted that the platform currently has over 2,000 members online and has already recorded significant impact through previous conferences held in Lagos and Uyo.

“We have a platform of about 2,000 women online. This conference has birthed other conferences, and that is the joy,” she said. “Every woman who has attended past editions is beginning to see what she can do with her life.”

She acknowledged funding as a major challenge but expressed confidence that the vision would attract support over time. “The major challenge I have is finance, but I know we will get there. It is a slow wheel and we are willing to go through the process,” she said.

Ebbi explained that the 2026 edition will focus on developing what she described as the attributes of a “total woman,” built around five pillars: Audacity, Boldness, Courage and Confidence, Discipline and Determination, and Empathy.

According to her, these traits are essential for women seeking to overcome self-doubt, low self-esteem and limiting beliefs that affect career choices, relationships and leadership potential.

She traced the evolution of the initiative to her earlier programme, Determine Your Six Factor, which later inspired her book which has helped women rediscover their essence, strengthen self-worth and improve negotiation skills.

Recounting the journey of the conference series, Ebbi said the first edition in Lagos attracted more than 250 women, while the second in Uyo expanded participation and storytelling among attendees. “Women came together, shared their stories and learned from one another. This conference has come to stay,” she said.

She said the third edition will feature about 14 speakers drawn across cultures, professions and age groups, many of whom will share personal stories of setbacks and recovery to demonstrate resilience and growth.

“The whole idea is to remind women that they have what it takes. You are powerful, strong and brilliant,” Ebbi said. “We want them to break barriers and attain higher heights. No matter where you come from, you can emerge and become anything you want.”

Beyond Lagos, Ebbi disclosed plans to take the conference to Uyo, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Ghana later in the year, including campus engagements aimed at rebuilding the self-esteem of young women and girls early in life.

She emphasised that the programme seeks to teach practical examples of women supporting other women to succeed. “Women who are emerging are helping other women emerge,” she said.

Ebbi added that the project is driven by personal commitment and faith. “I am putting my resources where my heart is. I have seen the effect on the lives of young women and girls, that is my fulfilment,” she said. “Every woman is a school. We must insist on the right values and build a generation of strong, empathetic and purposeful women.”

The She Spark Conference 3.0 is expected to draw participants from across Lagos and beyond, continuing what organisers describe as a long-term movement to nurture confident and impactful women leaders.
