The Tramshed Theatre in London hosted the stage production Etioba Palace Experience: A Tale of a Sojourner on August 8, 2026, with more than 200 people attending the sold-out cultural event.
Created, written, directed and produced by Abraham Ogunleye, popularly known as Etioba, the production explored themes surrounding migration, identity, family, culture, sacrifice, belonging and the enduring connection to home.
The production presented the experiences of immigrants who leave their homeland in search of opportunities while navigating the challenges that come with adapting to new environments and maintaining connections to their cultural roots.
The performance combined theatre, drama, comedy, music, dance, spoken word, storytelling, Yoruba chants, live drumming, percussion and audience interaction to create a blend of contemporary entertainment and African cultural expression.
Actors, comedians, musicians, spoken-word performers, dancers and percussionists featured in the production, creating a performance that moved between humour, music, drama and emotional storytelling.
Among the actors and performers were Ogunleye, Adedeji Fatokun, Temitope Aminat Lawal, Olamide Falolu, Kenny Ojo, Olalekan Oladimeji, Ajide Adeyemi and Abiodun Adeyinka Adetoro.
The musical and live performance segment featured Deborah Lawal, Falola Elijah, Timi Lucas, Segun Williams, Pelumi Adedayo-Bamidele and Love Anjorin, who performed as DJ Bigflo.
Spoken-word performance was delivered by Grace Akanni Lawrence, while percussion and drum performances featured Adeniyi Morolahun, Ajide Adeyemi and Abiodun Adeyinka Adetoro. Adebayo George served as keyboardist.
The dance segment featured Abigail Tonade and Timothy Oyindamola Fagbamila, while photography for the event was handled by Gabriell Bello.
At the centre of the production was a message about preserving identity and maintaining a connection with one’s cultural heritage despite the direction of one’s journey.
Through its combination of traditional Yoruba cultural elements and contemporary stage entertainment, Etioba Palace Experience: A Tale of a Sojourner provided an avenue for audiences in London to engage with themes of migration and cultural identity through live performance.
The sold-out event attracted an audience of more than 200 people at the Tramshed Theatre, marking the staging of the production in London on August 8.
