DSS probes Emeakayi’s allegation of threat to his life

The Department of State Services (DSS), Anambra State Command, has commenced investigation into the alleged threat to the life of the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Ken Emeakayi, by Governor Willie Obiano.

Revealing this yesterday,  when the PDP State Chairman visited to ascertain the position of his petition to the Command, the state director of the DSS, Mr. Yusuf Isyaku, said he would not discuss anything about the petition with Emeakayi in the public. He, however, confirmed that the command received the petition and had gone far in investigation.

Emeakayi, who earlier visited the State Police command headquarters,  said he was at the DSS to find out the position of his petition, having not heard from the command a month after, especially when the threat to his life was increasing, adding that he had, in the petition, requested the DSS “to investigate the threat to his life and find the persons behind it, get the call record from the telephone line the governor used in their interaction to ascertain if his claims were true or false and to provide him with 24-hour security.”

Reacting to Emeakayi’s allegation, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Strategic Communication and Legislative Matters, Prince Oliver Okpala, described the allegation as baseless.

He said: “When did mere telephone calls transform to violence? That is why I said they are neither here nor there. Since he has reported to the police and the DSS, he can now wait and see the outcome of the investigation.”
