Driver of a Toyota Sienna bus and one of his female passengers lost their lives on Friday night when a Mercedes Benz 350 which was on top speed reportedly rammed into their vehicle.

The incident was said to have occurred at the Agbarha-Otor junction axis of the East/West Road, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta state.

An eyewitness account claimed that the deceased driver was attending to the late female passenger at the rear side of the bus, which was parked by the roadside where the Benz rammed into them.

The source said the victims instantly died, ostensibly due to the high impact of the contact.

An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) from Ughelli Unit confirmed the incident.

The official said: “We received a distress call and when we got to the scene, we saw two dead bodies in an accident involving a white Mercedes Benz and a Toyota Sienna.

“It was a case of over-speeding and loss of control by the Mercedes. The driver of the Sienna was attending to the passenger at the boot of the vehicle when they were swept away.

“Their remains have been deposited at the morgue and the two vehicles have been towed to the police station.”
