First Lady of Nigeria Oluremi Tinubu has urged Nigerian youths to remain patient, hardworking and contented, warning against the temptation to settle for modest achievements or seek quick success.
The First Lady gave the charge on Friday while receiving the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Wing at the State House, Abuja, where she also donated nine buses to support the youth wing’s party and community activities, according to a statement by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi.
Addressing the youth leaders, Mrs Tinubu stressed the importance of diligence, integrity and resilience, saying lasting success comes through perseverance rather than haste.
“God always knows our needs and that is what the young people do not know; they are always in a hurry,” she said.
She added: “And I am teaching you how to learn contentment and not be beggarly.”
Encouraging the youths to develop resilience in the face of challenges, the First Lady likened them to eagles, urging them to rise above adversity instead of competing with others.
“You have to have the Eagle’s mentality. When the Eagle sees the storm, he laughs at it and sees how he can fly above it. That is what you should all do. You should always look for your own path and not because that person has it, I want it.”
Mrs Tinubu commended the APC youth leadership for working in unity to strengthen the party’s activities, particularly at the grassroots, and urged members to conduct themselves in ways that would bring greater respect and honour to the ruling party.
She also charged the youth wing to actively promote the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing them as key drivers of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to her, as a vital arm of the ruling party, the APC Youth Wing has a responsibility to demonstrate resilience and commitment to building “a tomorrow built on hope.”
To support their operations, the First Lady presented nine brand-new buses to the APC National Youth Wing for mobility during party engagements and community service initiatives.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, APC National Youth Leader Dayo Israel expressed appreciation for the donation, describing it as a major boost to the youth wing’s capacity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We are committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda. What you have done today is to enhance our capacity to be able to reach out not just for electoral mobilisation but to be able to improve the lives of Nigerians,” Israel said.
He pledged the youth wing’s continued support for President Tinubu’s administration and vowed to deepen grassroots mobilisation across the country.
“From this moment, we are now mummy’s men for Asiwaju and we are going to set structure to run campaign in the 36 states of the federation,” he said.
Expressing gratitude for the donation, Israel added: “You have raised boys to men. We came here, many of us without vehicles, but we are leaving with brand-new buses. We are very grateful, ma.”
The buses were presented to the APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, Deputy National Youth Leader Jamaludeen Kabir, as well as zonal youth leaders and the FCT representative.
