Ahead of voting for the Saturday Presidential and National Assembly election, distribution of election materials for the Makurdi Local Government Area has began.
When our correspondent visited at about 8:30am, both electoral officers and party agents were seen at the LGEA Primary school, Wurukum in Makurdi taking delivery of the materials meant for their polling units.
Meanwhile, soldiers are seen at various points in Makurdi the state capital. While some were stationed at the three entry points in Wurukum roundabout, others were seen at 72 barracks junction, North Bank of Makurdi where they mounted road block, screening motorists and pedestrians to ensure they were all out for elections.
At some polling units in Makurdi, materials were yet to arrive while voters were tricking in to exercise their franchise.
Our correspondent observed that the atmosphere is generally calm.
