Deborah Nwankwo, a global leader advancing supply chain resilience, procurement integrity, and data-driven risk management, has been named the recipient of the Outstanding Women in Supply Chain & Operations Leadership Award by GESA.
The award was presented to her in recognition of her impactful leadership across commercial, public-sector, and national-interest supply chain systems.
The honor recognizes Deborah’s leadership, innovation, and measurable impact in advancing resilient, transparent, and data-driven supply chain and operations systems. She was selected for her cross-sector contributions spanning U.S. retail distribution networks, federal procurement systems, healthcare supply chains, and enterprise risk transformation.
“I am truly honored to receive this recognition from GESA,” Deborah said. “This award reflects my commitment to building supply chains that are not only efficient, but resilient, transparent, and capable of supporting critical economic and national priorities.”
Deborah currently serves in a leadership role at Amazon, where she leads supply chain operations supporting U.S. distribution networks. Her work includes overseeing procurement for critical materials, implementing AI-driven forecasting frameworks, enhancing supplier performance, and designing replenishment strategies that stabilize inventory across national demand cycles.
Through these efforts, she has helped ensure continuity during global material shortages while strengthening one of the world’s largest and most complex logistics infrastructures.
In addition to her private-sector leadership, Deborah has made significant contributions to public-interest and infrastructure-focused initiatives. Her project, Mitigating Fraud, Waste, and Abuse in U.S. Critical Infrastructure Procurement, integrates forensic accounting controls, predictive analytics, and supply chain validation models into federal procurement systems. The framework supports early detection of procurement irregularities and strengthens oversight of major infrastructure and defense investments.
“Supply chains sit at the intersection of operational performance and public trust,” she said. “When we apply data, analytics, and strong controls to procurement systems, we protect critical infrastructure and ensure accountability at scale.”
Beyond her professional achievements, Deborah is committed to advancing opportunities for young women. She co-founded the Encouragement of the Girl-Child Initiative, a nonprofit providing mentorship to high school girls in Eastern Nigeria, and remains active in professional organizations including the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Forté Fellowship network.
“As women, our presence and leadership in supply chain and operations matters,” she said. “I am proud to represent the next generation of leaders who are shaping resilient, efficient, and trustworthy supply chains on a global scale.”
The Outstanding Women in Supply Chain & Operations Leadership Award from GESA underscores Deborah’s growing influence as a data-driven leader helping to shape secure, efficient, and trustworthy supply chains with global and national impact. This recognition reaffirms the exceptional contributions of Deborah Nwankwo.
