It was a special service on February 28, 2026, at The Spiritual Kingdom Church of Christ (SKCC) in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, when the church members celebrated the ascension of the founder of the kingdom, Spiritual Kingdom Church of Christ International, His Holiness, Edidem Bassey, who ascended to eternal glory in February 1993.

The ascension ceremony kicked off with choir renditions from all branches of the church, goodwill messages, children’s choir performance and reflections on the life and times of His Holiness Edidem Bassey while he was on earth. It was televised to the audience.

The Chief High Priest of the church, Samuel Chinda Edidem, and the congregants celebrated the event with pomp and ceremony as they recalled the miraculous and good deeds done to the body of Christ.

“What God has done through him is inexhaustible. We cannot exhaust them because they are uncountable,” he said.

According to him, all predictions and prophecies from His Holiness Edidem Bassey have come to fruition after declaration, noting that he prayed during the civil war and the three-year war  ended immediately.

“Our father Edidem Bassey, whom we are celebrating his ascension to heaven today, prayed at the time of the Nigerian civil war. God answered him and assured that there would be no more war in Nigeria.

“That covenant between our father and God is respected by God himself till today. Therefore, we can authoritatively say that Nigeria would not see war again.

“Without the prayer of Edidem Bassey, the Nigerian civil war would have escalated to Third World War because of the interest of world powers in that war.

“Although the war recorded losses to individuals and the nation, it would have lasted longer than necessary but God answered the prayer by His Holiness Edidem Bassey and it ended with the ‘no victor, no vanquished’ slogan of the federal government.”

Chief Samuel Edidem stated that “God has kept that covenant very active to this day. So, that is how it is. God has passed through him to raise the dead.

God has passed through him to do so many things. God sent him, Christ anointed him then sent him to us, as greatly a comforter of the Gentile race.

“So, God performed so many miraculous things through him. Sometimes,  even the lame, who could not walk, walked. Those who have lost their sight, their people will bring them and you see them recover: For those who lost their sight, their sight was restored, the lame walked, so many things happened in this great kingdom and for the world at large. His prayers in those days helped even the rulers, the leaders, because he had special times to pray for world leaders, for them to succeed in their leadership. So, there are many things, many more, but these are just a few out of many things that God used him to do.”

Chinda stressed that despite the political turmoil in Nigeria characterized by insecurity, kidnapping, violence, ethnic tensions and Boko Haram insurgency, Nigeria will not experience another round of war because their founder(Edidem  Bassey)entered into a covenant with God, while interceding during the 1966 war.

At the ascension ceremony, the Mother General, Caroline and Admin, Gabriel Edidem, recounted the benefits of King Edidem Bassey while dwelling on earth physically among the gentiles, backing up testimonies, miraculous breakthroughs of healing, business success, gainful employment and freedom from evil forces emanating from  branches of the church.

“The eyes of the most holy king are always watching over us. He is always ready to hear, answer, fight and save us. Only put your trust in him,” she said.

Going down memory lane, Chinda recalled: “In 1987, when I lost my father, his brothers wanted to kill me and take what  belonged to me. I  ran to him. God spoke through him that I would not run for them, that they would run for me, the enemies would run for me. And, to say the truth, when I came back home, those people who were pursuing me, that even made me go to another place to rent  a building, that time, 1987, when I came to the spiritual king at the headquarters, he told me, ‘My son, you will not run for your enemies, your enemies will run for you. Collect your money from where you have paid it into.’

“I went back to the people and my rent was given back to me.

So, I went back to my home. I stayed and God passed through his words to subdue the

enemies. So, the enemies were humbled.”

He noted that the church has earmarked 8 and 9  February annually for this celebration since the  ascension of His Holiness, Edidem Bassey.
