Daughters of Destiny, a non-interdenominational women’s fellowship founded in 2006, has celebrated 20 years of championing women’s growth and financial independence

The celebration, tagged 40+ Women Rejuvenate Conference, was held at the fellowship’s international headquarters, Lekki, Lagos. Notable women and speakers from all walks of life attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the founder, Apostle Busola Jegede, described the two decades as one of impactful existence, and reaffirmation of commitment to raising spiritually grounded, economically empowered and purpose-driven women.

Reflecting on the journey, Jegede noted that sustaining a vision for two decades requires growth, maturity and understanding, noting that progress often comes with change.

“People leaving you to start their own churches or foundations is growth. Some people will grow and move on to start something else in life. We should not take it against them but rather join hands to ensure that the work of God does not suffer,” she stated.

Jegede, who also shared personal reflections on her leadership journey, recounted how she initially travelled frequently from Lagos Island to the mainland to sustain the fellowship. Growth and maturity, she said, eventually ushered her into a new season of leadership and structure.

The chartered accountant, marriage counsellor and intercessor added that her calling is focused on raising women as intercessors for families and nations, equipping them spiritually, while empowering them to thrive in all areas of life.

A former banker, Rev’d Yinka Olatunbosun, who is the minister in charge of the Ikeja branch of the fellowship, emphasised the fellowship’s focus on economic empowerment. She explained that the 40+ Women Conference was designed to equip women with practical skills and ideas for financial independence.

“Women are trained to identify their talents and turn them into income. They are taught how to invest, start businesses and explore viable income-generating ideas to achieve their life goals,” Olatunbosun said.
