A renewed cult clash in Igbogene community, a suburb of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, has claimed three lives.
According to the investigation, three people were gunned down at about 11.30 pm by suspected cultists.
The victims were said to have been shot in the head to ensure that the chances of survival are zero.
While sources stated that the immediate cause was the youth election held in the community, findings indicated that the remote cause was the killing of Ebi Doudou.
Doudou, from Amassoma community, was known as one of the leaders of the Greenlanders cult group in Igbogene area.
The deceased was abducted on February 15, 2026, by a rival cult group, and the Police later found his headless body.
Sources said in retaliation for Doudou’s killing by the suspected Bobos cult group, the Greenlanders seized the fallout of the youth election to carry out reprisal killings.

But the victorious side defied their warning and went to celebrate in their area. Later in the night, we heard gunshots, and in the morning, we saw three corpses,’’ a resident of Igbogene said.
Sources said both sides engaged in a gun duel that lasted over an hour, which left three dead and some sustaining bullet wounds.
At Igbogene, several police vans were seen on Monday morning at strategic areas, while heavily armed policemen were patrolling.
