Ahead of Wednesday’s Supreme Court judgement over the authentic National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a new factional state chairman has emerged in the Nasarawa State.

He is said to be loyal to senator Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the party.

Speaking to journalists in Lafia, Hon. Muhammed Sarki Tanko said the Modu Sheriff leadership of the party has dissolved the Nasarawa State chapter of the party led by Hon. Francis Orogo, paving way for his emergence as the interim chairman pending further directive.

According to a statement made available to newsmen, Hon. Tanko said that the dissolved executive was sacked due to its anti-party activities contrary to section 58 (i) e, f, and J of the party construction 1999 as amended.

“The state executive of the party led by Hon Francis Orogo is hereby dissolved with immediate effect, NEC has equally appointed an interim leadership to be chaired by Alhaji Mohammed Sarki Tanko (Danmajen Azara), ” the statement said

But speaking to journalists on Monday at the state PDP Secretariat, in Lafia, Hon. Orogo dismissed the Tanko’s claims, noting that all the stakeholders and members of the party in the state were solidly behind him as their chairman.

Orogo who display a letter of suspension of the said Sarki Tanko by his ward chairman and Secretary, Tanko Paly and Ahmad Tasiu wondered why a none member of the party will be sponsored to cause confusion.

The chairman who was accompanied by all his executives, also accused Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, for allegedly sponsoring Tanko to destabilise the unity of the party in the state.

He therefore urged members of the party not take Tanko seriously saying he is not a member of the party.

He said the party in the state would accept whoever the Supreme Court pronounced as the substantive National Chairman of the party in the country, adding that the party was at its peak to take over government in the state.

Responding, Governor  Al-Makura said he was not aware of the existence of PDP  in Nasarawa Sstate and could not have sponsored for their disorganisation.

Al-Makura, who spoke through his special assistant media and publicity, Ahmed Tukur, said “First and foremost, the governor is not a member of the PDP, what is happening is the internal crisis of the party, the governor is not even aware that PDP exist in the state, Hon Francis Orogo is a confuse person who is looking for somebody to blame for his woes.”
