An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State on Tuesday sentenced a 45-year-old man, Anthony Ukpe, to eight months imprisonment for stealing 90 bags of cement valued at N229,500.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr S. O. Banwo, who gave the ruling, did not give the convict an option of fine.

Ukpe, whose address was not disclosed in the court, had pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, had told the court that the accused and others at large committed the offence on July 15 at Onihale, Ota, Ogun.

Gbesi said that the accused and his accomplices stole 90 bags of cement valued at N229, 500 belonging to one Fatoki Sunday.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 426 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun 2006. (NAN)
