From Godwin Tsa, Abuja
The Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered Mr Nkemakolam Ukandu, National Welfare Secretary of the African Democratic Party (ADC), to pay N50 million each to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, and Justice Peter Lifu, over allegations that they were biased against him.
Justice Salim Ibrahim gave the order while ruling on an oral application filed by J. U. K. Igwe, counsel to Justice Tsoho and Justice Lifu.
The judge directed that the total sum of N100 million be paid within 14 days.
Justice Ibrahim had earlier struck out Ukandu’s suit against the National Judicial Council (NJC), Justice Tsoho and Justice Lifu — filed as first, second and third defendants respectively — for want of diligent prosecution.

In the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1156/2026, Ukandu had asked the court to compel the NJC to investigate allegations of corruption, abuse of judicial powers and bias against the two judges.
Justice Ibrahim noted that neither Ukandu nor his counsel had appeared before the court since the matter was assigned to him.
He had, on June 30, warned that the suit would be dismissed if the plaintiff or his lawyer continued to stay away from proceedings.
The suit is linked to the ADC’s leadership crisis, arising from a case filed by an aggrieved party member, Nafiu-Bala Gombe, which is still pending before Justice Lifu.
