The Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, has recommended the criminal prosecution of auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe in connection with the death of popular Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.

In its findings delivered on Friday, Magistrate C.A. Shotobi concluded that Ogedengbe acted with gross negligence by administering an injection to the singer without a doctor’s prescription.  The court, however, ruled out foul play or homicide in the case.

“The actions of the nurse were both unlawful and professionally negligent,” the magistrate stated.

Citing Section 29 of the Coroner Laws of Lagos State, the court advised the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to initiate legal proceedings against Ogedengbe for unlawful medical practice and gross professional misconduct.

Mohbad, a rising star in Nigeria’s music industry, died in September 2023 under controversial circumstances, prompting widespread public outcry and a government-ordered investigation into the events surrounding his death.
