Nigerian comedian and content creator, Okojie Bobby Oseyi, popularly known as ThaEdoBoy, has said that consistency and building a unique niche are more important than chasing viral moments in sustaining a successful career in the digital entertainment space.
Speaking about his journey, the Edo-born entertainer credited top creators including Sydney Talker, Broda Shaggi, and Craze Clown for inspiring his work ethic, revealing that he received advice from Sydney Talker. At the same time, he was a student at the University of Benin, which shaped his approach to content creation.
“The most important lesson I learnt is longevity. You need to be consistent, hardworking and never stop grinding. The day you stop is the day your audience moves on,” he told Saturday Sun.
ThaEdoBoy recalled earning his first ₦20,000 from a music promotion in 2019, describing it as the moment he realised content creation could become a viable career.
A passionate football fan, he said football-themed comedy has helped him connect with audiences, stressing that banter should remain entertaining rather than offensive.
He also urged brands to look beyond follower counts when selecting influencers, arguing that audience relevance should take precedence over popularity.
According to him, creators who build a distinct identity are more likely to enjoy lasting success than those who simply follow trends.
“If you follow trends, you might not last long, but if you build a niche, you will last long,” he said.
