The Committee of Retired Inspectors-General of Police(IGPs), have paid a solidarity visit to the incumbent Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, reaffirming unity and continuity in the Nigeria Police Force.
The meeting which held at the Louis Edet House, had former IGPs Aliyu Attah, Sunday Ehindero, Mike Okiro, Ogbonna Onovo, Suleiman Abba and M.D. Abubakar in attendance.
Also in attendance were members of the Force Management Team, Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs), Commissioners of Police and other senior officers.
In his address at the meeting, IGP Kayode Egbetokun listed some of the reforms and achievement in the past two years to include upgrading the Intelligence Unit to a Department, elevating the Legal and Medical Units to Directorates, expanding Police Mobile Force Squadrons from 74 to 80, creating new Area Commands and Divisions, and establishing the Special Intervention Squad.

He emphasised merit-based promotions, with over 141,000 officers advanced, and compulsory ethics training to strengthen professionalism amongst others.
Responding on behalf of the committee of retired IGPs, IGP M.D. Abubakar, who commended the incumbent’s progress, encouraged him to sustain the momentum, and called on officers of the Force to support the IGP in his reform-oriented initiatives.
The meeting underscored collaboration across generations of police leadership, with a shared commitment to building a modern, trusted, and capable Nigeria Police Force.
